What is Whiplash?
Neck strain is often called whiplash. Any impact or blow that causes your head to jerk forward or backward can cause whiplash, although it is normally associated with car accidents. The muscles and tendons in your neck stretch and tear with the sudden force.
What are the symptoms of whiplash?
It is hard to ignore the pain of whiplash. The pain can start immediately or develop days, weeks, or sometimes even months later. Some individuals may only suffer minor discomfort while others experience one or more of the following:
- Pain or stiffness with movement of the neck.
- Tightness or spasms of the muscles the neck or upper back.
- Abnormal sensations such as burning or tingling.
- Shoulder and/or back pain.
- Pain and decreased range of motion, and tightness in the neck. The muscles may feel hard or knotted.
- Headaches at the base of the skull.
How can a chiropractor help after the accident?
Chiropractors know how to help patients suffering from a personal injury that was caused by a car accident. They often help treat injuries such as:
- Whiplash
- Headaches and Migraines
- Muscle Tears
- Bone Fractures
- Spinal Damage
When should I see a chiropractor?
When you are involved in a car accident, it is always advised to seek the help of a chiropractic doctor right away. It is important that regardless of the symptoms you are experiencing, you receive an assessment from an experienced car accident injury chiropractor as soon as possible.
Often, patients come to a doctor after waiting weeks after the accident because they were hoping their injuries would just go away. Unfortunately, this is not how the body works, and to rid your body of the pain you should get treatment as soon as possible.
Your injuries need to be assessed, documented properly, and treated so you can begin the healing process. This needs to take place right away.
It is important that you are examined by a doctor within three days of the accident otherwise the insurance company may discredit the value of your case.
While our primary goal may be to help your body heal from whiplash, we can also help you and your attorney with your claim. If you would like more information, please contact us right away.
